On Saturday 12th October, Midhurst Squash Club and The Grange Community and Leisure Centre are participating in the global ‘World Squash Day’.
Hundreds of squash venues across England are opening their doors and showcasing this great sport to their local communities. This is your chance to step on court and try your hand at squash and discover its amazing benefits such as fitness and friendships.
The squash programme is packed with different opportunities, ranging from junior coaching, through to racquet ball and coaching for regular players. All courts and coaching are free, so this is a great opportunity, whether a regular or new player to come and have a go.
‘Currently Midhurst has 2 men’s teams in the Sussex League, we are really keen to develop this further, with juniors, new and returning players’ said Neil Procter Midhurst Squash Club. ‘One of our key goals going forward, is to work together to increase the number of women playing this fantastic game. This event will have some specific times called ‘Squash Girls Can’, where hopefully we can develop an enthusiastic core of ladies – perhaps we will soon have 2 ladies’ teams in the Sussex League – wouldn’t that be great!!’
The team at Everyone Active have been fantastic in supporting this event, not only allowing the use of the squash courts, but also badminton, table tennis and racquet ball will be available throughout the day. So, even if you have never picked up a racquet before, come down to the Grange on Saturday 12th October and try things out. Its free, good for you and should be good fun.
