I would say Karen has been very useful to our program and we had exchanged so many emails of encouragement. Firstly she has been advising on things that we think are impossible while there is a way around it.

Karen has been also advising me on how to run a proper program as opposed to what we were doing. She gave us some ideas on how to fundraise to attract sponsors and also how to balance training of our children (gender equality). She has been keen to pay us a visit to observe what we are doing physically. We could not fulfil this because of financial problems. She has been trying to fundraise for us and she has been very helpful to our Academy by all means.

I cannot deny the help and the changes she has made to our program. Thank you Karen for all the support and the help that I didn't mention on here.

Translation

I spent two summers training with Karen Cheung in 2010 and 2011. I learned a lot technically, but she also made me work physically and tactically. I can definitely say that her experience, determination and kindness changed for ever my vision of this sport.

I am very grateful to her.

The Late Bob Callahan

Former Princeton University Head Men’s Coach, 2014

Bob Callahan at YaleI have known Karen for the past 10 years as we have worked together at the Princeton Squash Camps at Princeton University.

Karen is first and foremost a wonderful person. I would trust her with any project and working with anyone. She is dedicated, hard working and determined to see every job through to its successful completion.

Secondly, Karen is a squash coach and player of extraordinary ability.

The majority of Karen’s projects have involved start-up and redevelopment programs and her track record shows that she has often operated effectively with limited funding/resources/facilities and little infrastructure. Karen’s position in Trinidad and Tobago was a prime example of this as in a relatively short space of time she introduced a program (physical, mental and tactical) which produced two individual gold medals and team gold at the Caribbean Championships.

Karen is by far one of the best coaches I have ever come across. With her vast experience she is often able to break movements down in incredible detail and focus on areas of specific weakness, which usually results in rapid progress. In all my years of training I have found the 2 months I trained under Karen to be more productive than the following 2 years of training I performed on my own. She is an expert coach for all levels, beginner, intermediate, or advanced. I cannot highly recommend her enough.

Cathy de Gannes-Martin

I first met Karen Cheung at the end of one of the Princeton Summer Squash Camps in 2004. My daughter, Tessa, had been a participant and had been one of the players under Karen’s supervision for the week. At that time I was a member of the Trinidad & Tobago Squash Association (TTSA) Executive Committee and we had been considering contracting the services of a suitably qualified foreign squash coach to be our Consultant National Coach to assist us with our development plans.

Amelia Walcott

Mother of Chloe Walcott, Trinidad & Tobago National Team Player

Chloe off to National DutyChloe was playing squash for about fourteen months when she won our National Junior Squash Tournament in the under 13 division which would seal her spot on the Trinidad and Tobago national team for CASA 2015. However it was clear that the competitors from the other islands in her age group were way above Chloe’s capability.
